Special Response Team (SRT)

     The Bosque County Sheriff’s Office maintains a Special Response Team (SRT), commonly referred to by many agencies as a SWAT team. The SRT is comprised of specially selected peace officers who receive advanced training in tactical operations, high-risk incidents, and specialized law enforcement response.

     The team is utilized during situations that present an increased risk to the public, responding officers, or involved individuals and may require capabilities beyond those normally used during routine patrol operations.  The Special Response Team may be deployed for incidents involving hostage rescue situations, high-risk arrest warrants, high-risk search warrants, active shooter incidents, barricaded / armed individuals, acts / threats of terrorism, and other critical incidents requiring a specialized tactical response.

     SRT members train regularly to maintain proficiency in tactical operations, teamwork, communication, and specialized equipment. The team works closely with patrol deputies, investigators, crisis negotiators, command staff, and other emergency responders to safely manage critical incidents.

     The primary objective of the Special Response Team is to protect life, stabilize dangerous situations, and bring critical incidents to the safest possible resolution.

Crisis Negotiator Team

     Crisis Negotiators are specially trained law enforcement officers who respond to critical incidents involving individuals in crisis, including barricaded persons, hostage situations, suicidal individuals, and other high-risk events.

     Their primary goal is to establish communication, build trust, reduce tension, and work toward a peaceful resolution. Using specialized training in active listening, communication, behavioral assessment, and de-escalation, negotiators gather information and help individuals make safe decisions during highly stressful situations.

     Crisis Negotiators work closely with patrol deputies, command staff, tactical teams, mental health professionals, and other emergency responders. Their efforts are focused on protecting lives, stabilizing dangerous situations, and resolving incidents with the least amount of force necessary.
