REGISTERED SEX OFFENDERS

Under Texas law (Chapter 62 of the Texas Code of Criminal Procedure), individuals convicted of certain sexual offenses are required to register as sex offenders with the local law enforcement authority in the jurisdiction where they reside. In Bosque County, this responsibility is managed by the Bosque County Sheriff’s Office. Offenders must provide accurate and current information, including their residence address, employment, and other identifying details. Depending on the offense, registration may be required for a specific number of years or for the lifetime of the offender.

Registered sex offenders are required to periodically verify their information with law enforcement. This may include annual, semi-annual, or more frequent in-person verifications, depending on the offender’s classification and risk level. Offenders are also required to report changes such as a new address, employment, or school enrollment within a specified timeframe. Failure to comply with registration requirements is a criminal offense and may result in additional charges.

Certain information about registered sex offenders is available to the public as part of Texas’ commitment to community safety and awareness. This information may include the offender’s name, photograph, physical description, address, offense details, and compliance status. The public can access this information through the Texas Department of Public Safety Sex Offender Registry, as well as through local law enforcement agencies.

While the registry provides important information for public awareness, it is intended for safety purposes only. Misuse of registry information—such as harassment or threats toward registered individuals—is strictly prohibited and may result in criminal charges. The Bosque County Sheriff’s Office remains committed to enforcing registration laws while promoting informed and responsible use of this information by the public.
